"Sharing the Spirit of Finland," the event will be held July 23-27, 2008. The committee is confident that this upcoming FinnFest in Duluth will be as successful as the previous one in 1992; its success made possible the creation of a FinnFest Scholarship which to date has provided more than 100 awards to Finnish-American students at the University of Minnesota Duluth.

The four major themes of FinnFest 2008 are:

Culture – the appreciation of the customary beliefs, social forms and material traits of the Finns spanning generations both in Finland and the USA

Music – the exploration of the signature works of Finland’s most influential and eminent composers as well as prominent folk musicians

Women – the impact of Finnish women in Finland and the USA

Finnish-Ojibwe Integration – the study of the interaction of two distinguished cultures

Over the next two years, we will continue to give you updates about FinnFest 2008 in Duluth, Minnesota. Please also continue to check the website-www.FinnFest2008.com-for the most current information.
